As the words suggest, Career Planning is all about Planning i.e. the setting of objectives or goals for yourself.

Set yourself a three year game plan knowing that if you don’t know where you want to go, you certainly won’t ever get there.

Then align your career plan with what the company you’re currently working for offers you and communicate these to your manager. It is better exploring the options where you currently are if that is feasible before you jump ship for the sake of jumping ship.
